Frequently Asked Questions

Hiring a financial planner is a big decision, and you want to make sure that you do it right the first time.  Here are some of the questions you should be asking to make sure that you are choosing an advisor who will put your interests first, and specializes in working with clients like you.

What is a Fiduciary?

A fiduciary advisor is someone who is expected to make decisions and recommendations that are in the best interest of their client regardless of the impact on the advisor. We believe this is the best and most honest way for a financial planner or advisor to work with clients. Working as a fiduciary you can feel confident that you are receiving the best advice and not have to worry that you are being directed into investments and financial products based on a higher sales commission for your advisor.

Why Should I Hire A Financial Planner?

You’ve worked hard to become successful and get where you are today, so why should you hire someone to help you develop a financial plan rather than doing it yourself?

There are two main reasons why you should consider hiring us. The first is that we are passionate about helping you create a plan so that you can attain your goals and live a life that aligns with your values. But creating a plan to meet your goals is just one part of the picture, sticking to it and following through is another issue entirely. We are here to make sure that you follow through on your action items and to help you make adjustments when conditions change or challenges arise.

Where Are You Located?

We are now located in Upper Arlington, Ohio after being in Boise, Idaho starting in 2018. We work locally with clients in Ohio, virtually with clients in Idaho and all across the U.S.

How Do You Get Paid?

We get paid directly by you the client. Our clients pay us directly for financial planning and/or investment management. We don’t receive any sales commissions or payments from any other companies in order to incentivize us to direct you to buy their products.

What Do You Mean By Fee-Only?

Fee-only means that we are only compensated by the fees we receive from you, the client. We don’t get paid or receive sales commissions from anyone else. The combination of fiduciary and fee-only go hand in hand and we think, make for the best relationship between client and advisor. You can be sure that along every step of the way, We are looking out for your best interest and no one else’s.

We can meet wherever you are most comfortable or convenient. Whether that’s on the phone, at a coffee shop, or around your kitchen table, We are flexible and happy to meet you at the time and place that works best for you.

Do You Work With People Virtually?

Yes! We work with people located all over the United States. We’re just as comfortable working with someone over zoom or a phone call as we are meeting at the local coffee shop down the street. We’ve designed our business to handle all of our conversations and paperwork digitally so we can help you no matter where you are located.

What Type Of Clients Do You Typically Work With?

Our typical clients are physicians, professionals, and retirees who want to be sure they are making the best financial decisions possible. We help them navigate planning for retirement, saving for their kid’s college tuition, house purchases, and family vacations as well as advising on investment allocation, equity compensation and tax planning.

Who Is Not A Good Fit For Steady Climb Financial Planning?

If you are looking for a hot stock tip or want to get rich quick investing in real estate with no money down, then I’m probably not the right choice for you. But if you are looking to work together with someone who will take the time to understand your situation and your goals for the future in order to put together a solid plan of action, then we’re ready to work with you.

I’d Like To Learn More, What Is The Next Step?

Great! The next step is to click here to set up an introductory phone call or in-person meeting. This way we can get to know each other more and find out if working together is the right thing for both of us.

Our first meeting is more of a get to know you session. We want to learn about your goals and challenges and what led you to make the decision to hire a financial planner. We’ll also take some time to explain our background, education and financial planning philosophy so that you can make an informed decision if working together will be a good fit.

Do I Have To Pay For The First Meeting?

There is no charge for the first meeting which is typically a phone call or in person meeting where we can learn more about each other and decide if working together works for both of us.
